Historic Softball Complex Featured in “Eight Men Out” to be Auctioned

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – December 2, 2011. Indianapolis’ oldest softball complex will be auctioned on Thursday. Built in 1946, the Metro Softball Complex has been home to generations of softball and baseball leagues. Scenes from Eight Men Out, the 1988 John Sayles film about the infamous Black Sox scandal, were filmed there.

According to Mark Thompson, one of the partners in the business, leagues have been full and the business has been profitable for years, but the partners have differing visions for the complex.
Completely renovated, the Sherman Drive complex includes two lighted diamonds, clubhouse, dugouts, concessions, liquor license, billboard lease, and equipment.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – August 15, 2011. After 34 years in business, Carmel’s Glass Chimney Restaurant will be auctioned on Wednesday.

Austrian-born chef Dieter Puska founded the Glass Chimney in 1976 and built it into a Carmel fine dining institution. He sold the business in 2004 to his chef apprentice Adam Waldrip, and retired from the business in 2008. The restaurant was renowned for its elegant atmosphere and European cuisine.

Indianapolis-based Key Auctioneers will auction the real estate and furnishings for Glass Chimney and it casual dining neighbor, Deeter’s. The auction will be conducted at the Glass Chimney at 12901 Old Meridian St. on Wednesday August 17 at 10:00. INDIANAPOLIS, IN -  May 9, 2011. A year after pleading guilty to securities fraud, Geist resident Dorothy Geisler-Tragardh’s assets will be sold at a public auction. Proceeds from the auction will go to victims of the fraud.

In August, 2010, Geisler-Tragardh pleaded guilty to defrauding investors of $2.5 million. A former executive in Praxis Resource Partners, Geisler-Tragardh allegedly sold investors Class A shares of stock valued at 36 cents for $56 per share, misrepresenting them as Class B shares. At the time Geisler-Tragardh lived just one block from another notorious Geist resident accused of securities fraud, Marcus Shrenker, the indicted money manager who faked his death in a 2009 Florida plane crash.

On Friday evening, May 13 at 6 PM, Indianapolis-based Key Auctioneers will auction the assets of Geisler-Tragardh and others at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Noblesville. The auction will include a signed lithograph by Salvador Dali appraised at over $30,000, a signed, limited edition Peter Max valued at $7200, and more than 250 lots of jewelry, including several Cartier pieces, a 2-carat diamond solitaire, and a pair of 2-carat dangling tear drop diamond earrings valued at over $10,000. Also up for auction will be numerous minks and sables, Waterford crystal, a Lexus and other luxury vehicles, a 19-ft Mariah boat, fitness equipment and other household items. The sale will continue Saturday at 9AM with eight truckloads of leather and other high-end overstock furniture, fitness equipment and home décor items. Online bidding will be available for the Friday evening auction.

Indianapolis, Ind.  – The Indianapolis Airport Authority will hold a public auction at the Indianapolis Maintenance Center (IMC) on Tuesday, December 14 at 10 a.m.

The general public is invited to attend the auction as well as a preview and inspection day that will take place on Monday, December 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Both the auction and the preview day will be held at the IMC, which is located at 2745 South Hoffman Road in Indianapolis. Attendees should follow the signs for the IMC Deliveries Gate (Gate 35), where they will be directed to auction parking.

A large assortment of general shop equipment, machines, tools, furniture, scrap metal of all types, and a wide array of other items will be auctioned.

Specific items that will be sold include an aerial boom lift, mowing equipment, computer equipment, paint guns and parts, pallets and pallet jacks, reamers, trash receptacles, hose reels, work benches, storage cabinets and shelves, TVs, tables, and more. Vehicles are
expected to include cargo vans, a pick-up truck, golf carts, and an aircraft tow tractor.

Auction lots will also include items that have been lost or found at the Indianapolis International Airport passenger terminal, such as iPODs, cell phones, jewelry, cameras, and other items.

The last time a auction was held at the IMC was in 2008. The airport authority held a large public auction at the old passenger terminal on High School Road in 2009 which yielded $1 million in proceeds.

Online registration in advance of the Dec. 14 public auction is not required, although those who attend the preview event on Dec. 13 may register in advance.

DANVILLE, IN – November 30, 2010.  A rare game-worn shoe by then-rookie Dwayne Wade, game pants worn by Colts receiver Marvin Harrison, a Reggie Miller-autographed “Boom Baby” canvas, an Alex Rodriguez game-worn batting glove, and a boxing glove autographed by famed Ali trainer Angelo Dundee are just some of the items to be auctioned live and online Saturday, December 4, at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds. KNIGHTSTOWN, IN – July 26, 2010.  Hundreds of muscle car enthusiasts from around the country are expected in Knightstown for Thursday’s auction of one of the industry’s longtime parts suppliers, The Paddock.  According to Indianapolis-based Key Auctioneers (www.KeyAuctioneers.com), the company’s parts inventory, showroom items, collectibles, vehicles, office furniture, technology and warehouse equipment will be auctioned, as well as the company’s 60,000-square-foot facility and 22-acre campus.

The massive auction will require 2 auction rings running all day to sell the 65,000 parts and other assets. The sale will start at 10:00am on Thursday. Bidders will be able to preview inventory and other auction items on Wednesday from 10 am to 4 pm.

Key Auctioneers Senior Vice President Tim Boeglin said the company’s intellectual property, including the company’s name and trademarks, million-name customer list, websites, catalogs, and phone numbers, have already been sold by Key.

The Paddock has been a leading supplier of muscle car parts for several decades. Its thirteen parts lines represent some of America’s most popular muscle cars, including Mustang, Corvette, GTO, and Camaro.

Company founder Jim O’Neil started The Paddock in 1965, restoring muscle cars in a small shop in Knightstown. By 1979, the company was manufacturing Mustang steel patch panels. The company’s first Mustang catalog was printed soon thereafter and the company started to grow by word of mouth. In 1980, the first Camaro catalog was printed. In 1998, Wes Watts, a former parts manager for the local Chevrolet dealership, purchased the company from O’Neil.
Over the years the company added Firebird, GTO, Chevelle, Nova, Cutlass, Impala and other catalogs to its muscle car line. In 2001, Watts built a state-of-the art 60,000-square-foot facility to accommodate his growing business.

According the Watts, the economic downturn of the last three years, along with the credit crisis, contributed to the company’s demise.

Another chapter in the tragic tale of once high-flying money manager Marcus Schrenker will come to a close with the court-ordered auction of Schrenker’s personal and business assets. Indianapolis-based Key Auctioneers (www.KeyAuctioneers.com) announced today that it will auction the assets of Marcus Schrenker on Saturday, June 26 in Indianapolis. Among the items to be auctioned are the red 2008 Yamaha 1900CC motorcycle used by Schrenker to evade authorities after faking his death, his 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, and a $32,000 diamond ring.

Shrenker made worldwide headlines in January 2009 when he attempted to fake his death by parachuting from a private plane that later crashed in the Florida panhandle. He made his way to a storage facility where he had stashed the red Yamaha motorcycle and was apprehended at a Florida campground three days later. The faked death plot came shortly after his wife filed for divorce and his investment advisory business came under investigation for securities violations.

Former Indiana Securities Commissioner O. Wayne Davis was appointed by the Hamilton County Superior Court to manage and distribute Schrenker’s assets at the urging of the Indiana Securities Division. The Division sued Schrenker, alleging he had violated the Indiana Securities Act by using investor funds for personal use. Proceeds from the court-ordered auction will be paid to the Court for distribution.

The public auction will be Saturday, June 26 at 9 a.m. at 5838 82nd St. in Indianapolis. The auction will include furniture, art, jewelry, and other items from Schrenker’s Geist Reservoir mansion and ICON Group investment company offices. Items to be auctioned include a Boston baby grand piano, a 29-foot Rinker speedboat formerly docked at Schrenker’s “Cocktail Cove” home, diamond rings and earrings, two shotguns, a handgun, a full-sized electronic basketball scoreboard, two’s ATVs, three motocross motorcycles, a jet ski, and the red getaway motorcycle. Among the more ironic auction items are several Wall Street-themed art pieces and a large wooden airplane propeller.

EDDYVILLE, KY – June 2, 2010. A piece of Lyon County history will come to a close next Thursday with the auction and sale of Fugate Lumber Company in Eddyville.

Fugate Lumber has been owned and operated by the same local family since the store was founded in 1955 by Lawrence and Carmon Fugate. Fugate operated stores in Eddyville, Madisonville and Central City. The Madisonville store will remain open, leaving it as the last of the family-owned chain.
